Does God Still Do Miracles? is written by Dr. Brad Burke and published by Victor, an imprint of Cooks Communications Ministries. In this book Dr. Burke,an MD, takes a closer look at the things we call miracles. He answers the question on exactly what must take place to fit the definition of a miracle.
To help us differentiate between the miracles of Jesus and the miracles of today's Faith Healers he takes us inside a Benny Hinn Crusade. He shows us the trickery and underhanded activities that take place to make things appear miraculous when they really aren't. According to Dr. Burke the same tricks are used by every one in the Faith Healing Ministries, including W.V. Grant. Kathryn Kuhlman, and Reinhard Bonnke.
Dr. Burke asks the question if these people are really healers then why cant they heal someone on the street? Why must the sick attend a healing rally or conference?
This has go to be the hardest book I've ever written a review on. Did I like this book? I don't know. Was the book riveting? Indeed, yes! The question of whether God does miracles today has been on my mind a lot lately. I have two very close friends in stage four cancer. They are both praying for a miracle.
Dr. Burke takes a close look at these individuals. If one is healed and another is not, then why? And if they are healed of cancer is it really a miracle?
I'm not even going to begin to answer these questions here. You will need to read the entire book to get the whole idea and reasons behind Dr. Burkes surprising conclusions to the question of healing miracles. This book is fascinating and spellbinding from cover to cover.
I read it all in one sitting because I couldn't put it down! I'm not sure if I'm totally convinced of Dr. Burkes answers to these hard questions but I will say that at least he has answers and his answers makes a lot of sense. Dr. Burke has done a thorough research on every medical healing and claim that he makes in this book! He has 10 pages of source notes in the back of his book!
In the beginning I thought this book might shake my faith in God and his power to heal. The further I read the more uncomfortable I became. But I kept reading and I can tell you I'm glad I did.
Dr. Burkes answers are practical and timely but also quite provocative. He will make you think about things in a way you've never thought about them before. You will walk away from this book with a whole new way of viewing the mind and body and miracles in today's world. You will finish with an awesome respect for the Creator of this incredible machine, the human body.
The book is laid out in an easy to read manner; not all what you would expect from a medical doctor. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is asking the question for themselves; Does God Still Do Miracles?
Read the book and find out.
I give this book 4 stars out of 5.
This has been a review for Active Christian Media. I am a 47 year old mother of three; a stay at home mom and a homeschooler.
